Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing, was first out in the state's congressional delegation with a congratulatory statement for the Wings today. Here it is:
"Last night, the Detroit Red Wings reaffirmed once again why the city of Detroit is known as Hockeytown. I want to congratulate owners Mike and Marian Ilitch, head coach Mike Babcock, captain Nicklas Lidstrom, and the rest of the team and their families for this outstanding accomplishment. The best team in the NHL throughout the regular season, the Red Wings showed resilience and poise through the playoffs to bring Lord Stanley's Cup back to the state of Michigan. This victory marks the Red Wings' 11th Stanley Cup Championship, continuing the team's reign as America's most storied hockey team and a true sports dynasty, bringing victory and pride to all of Michigan."
