Category: 2008 Stanley Cup championship celebration
Posted by Steve Pardo (The Detroit News) on Thu, Jun 5, 2008 at 12:14 AMWelcome home champions!
The Wings continue to laugh and drink, joke and jostle in Pittsburgh.
At Detroit Metro Airport, crews are hard at work awaiting their return.
The private hangar off Northline is being transformed to a reception hall for when the champions come back -- whenever that may be -- this morning.
Red tablecloths cover tables. Champagne chills on ice. Grey Goose vodka and other top-shelf liquors, set by bartenders. Red and white balloons filled reach high in the cavernous hangar.
Sorry folks. This celebration isn't open to the public. And the routes leading to the site are well guarded.
