Holmstrom day to day

Quick update, just before the Wings take the ice for practice here at frigid Mellon Arena. Tomas Holmstrom isn't expected to practice today and his availability for Saturday's Game 4 looks a little questionable. General manager Ken Holland said Friday afternoon he doesn't expect Holmstrom (lower body injury) to take part in the Wings' 2 p.m. practice. "I would say he is day to day," Holland said. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow (Saturday)." Holmstrom hurt himself while entangled with Pittsburgh defenseman Hal Gill with six minutes left Wednesday in Game 3. Holmstrom fell hard to the ice - may have reaggravated an earlier hernia injury or maybe hurt his knee - and didn't return to the game. Holland refuted reports Holmstrom is out for the series. "No one has told me that," Holland said.
