Franzen cleared to practice
Johan Franzen has been cleared to practice Thursday with the Red Wings. Franzen (concussion-like symptoms) skated on his own for the second consecutive and has been cleared by doctors to begin working out with the Red Wings. Coach Mike Babcock said Franzen is skating well and expects Franzen to be in the lineup at some point in this series against Pittsburgh, although not likely in Game 1. "He'll be available, I don't know at what point," Babcock said. "We're really optimistic. Doctors will make those decisions (when Franzen will play). I don't think he'll play in Game 1 but anytime after that." "He's been working out and he's feeling a lot better," general manager Ken Holland said. "He's doubtful for Game 1." Franzen, who leads the league with 11 playoff goals, has been unavailable since Game 2 of the previous series against Dallas when persistent headaches forced him out of the line up.
