Fabian goes to Dallas
The Dallas Stars have defeated the Red Wings in one contest already. Swedish prospect Fabian Brunnstrom will make his NHL debut with Dallas next season. Brunnstrom has informed the Wings and Montreal Canadiens he will not play for them, but will sign with the Dallas Stars. Brunnstrom, 23, visited with all three teams last week. He saw the Wings-Colorado Avalanche game Thursday in Denver, and toured Joe Louis Arena the next day. Brunnstrom met with general manager Ken Holland, assistant GM Jim Nill, and many of the players, including all the Swedes on the roster. "He seemed like a real nice guy," Niklas Kronwall said. Playing time seems to be the biggest benefit to play with Dallas. The Wings couldn't offer the same type of guarantees Brunnstrom would be on the regular season roster, as well as consistent playing time. All the teams in competition for Brunnstrom - who was never drafted - can offer the same financial package ($850,000 per season, with bonuses up to the same $850,000 figure).
