Brunnstrom speaks

Fabian Brunnstrom just wants to get the whole process over with. He wants to sign with a team, and get the international media circus done. "This has been so big, almost like I'm the next Sidney Crosby, and I'm not Sidney Crosby," said Brunnstrom before Thursday's Game 4. "I just want to sign and get it over with." Brunnstrom, 23, has never been drafted, thus his current ability to sign whatever team he wishes to sign with. Brunnstrom's career turned two years ago. "A couple of years ago I decided to give hockey a chance, so I began practicing hard," said Brunnstrom, a winger with size (6-1, 200) and offensive skills. "I became better and better. Hard work." There's been talk of Brunnstrom looking for playing time guarantees, but he indicated that wasn't the case. "I don't think teams can give me that guarantee," said Brunnstrom, who didn't know how long it would take to sign with a team. "I'm just looking for an opportunity to play. I want to play. I know the Red Wings are a real good team. It's going to be tough, all the teams in the NHL are good." Brunnstrom is from the same town as Wings defenseman Andreas Lilja, and has had several conversations with Lilja about the Wings and the NHL in general. Brunnstrom said he's met with many other of the Swedish Wings. "They said it was a puck-possession team and they play skill hockey," Brunnstrom said. "They seem to give guys an opportunity to play. That's good."
