Maltby not ready
Increasingly it looks like Kirk Maltby won't be ready for this first round of the playoffs. The hamstring injury that has kept Maltby in the trainers room instead of the ice is getting better but Maltby will likely run out of time. "I'd have to be very fortunate health wise," said Maltby who was injured April 3 in Chicago. "But I don't know if I'm going to ask the guys to prolong the series just for the sake of that (Maltby playing). As long as I don't have any setbacks, I should be ready for the second round." Maltby said he's done some light skating about three times in the last week. "There's just a process for it healing before I can really push it," Maltby said. "Hopefully by the weekend I can do a morning skate, or be involved in some drills. "I'm able to do workouts and some cardio stuff, so I'm able to keep on things (conditioning). We have a lot of extra guys around so I can do some battle drills. I don't think (lack of conditioning) will be an issue."
