Wings 6, Sharks 3
Some quotes from after the Wings 6-3 demolition of San Jose: 1) Mike Babcock: "We had a pretty good night. We only gave up 18 shots on the road. We played pretty well and pretty intelligently" 2) Another Babcock: "Our power play was really good (two goals). We hadn't been as good on the power play lately. The past few games, we've had one or two good power plays then some horrible ones. We put something together tonight." 3) San Jose coach Ron Wilson: "This type of game is only beneficial in that it gives me plenty of ammo when I'm talking to this group. A game like that shows your weaknesses." 4) Dominik Hasek: "We played a very smart defensive game. Their only chances came on the power play. Overall, they didn't have too many chances. It seemed like the same story from last year." 5) Nicklas Lidstrom: "We took advantage of our power play chances. It was great to see our team respond. After they tied it up, they kept coming pretty hard. But after we got that goal (Niklas Kronwall's goal, regaining the lead) it got us the momentum." And now, a personal observation: I'm beginning the Wings have really gotten into the Sharks' heads. San Jose was mere seconds from taking a commanding 3-1 playoff lead last season. Instead, the Wings rallied and have now won 6 consecutive games over the Sharks. Most of them have been pretty dominating, too. This could be a good playoff match-up for the Wings, unless the Sharks make a move, or two, for a veteran defenseman and some juice up front. The Wings dads certainly looked pretty happy with this victory. I can't remember the Wings losing too many games with their dads on the road during these trips. There's a good feeling all the way around with the dads all here.
