On Hossa speculation
A lot of stuff on websites today about the Wings being the favorites, possibly, to acquire Marian Hossa from the Thrashers. I'm sorry, I don't see that one. For one thing, yes, Hossa is potentially an unrestricted free agent and an agreement with Atlanta doesn't look promising right now. But the Thrashers need to make the playoffs this season, or at least it would behoove GM/acting head coach Don Waddell to make the playoffs, so why in the world would you trade Hossa (you're second best player behind Kovalchuk)? Atlanta could easily win the Southeast Division with Hossa in the line up. Just ride it out and see what happens. This is potentially a very dangerous team in the playoffs with Hossa in the line up (and if Keri Lehtonen stays healthy in net). Secondly, if Atlanta truly is interested in trading Hossa, the asking price, let's face it, would be ridiculous. They'd likely ask for a Filppula or Kronwall, or something along those lines. With plenty of draft picks. I just don't see the Wings being interested in that type of trade for a player who likely would just be a rental.
