Wings 1, Avalanche 0
Just a couple of thoughts after the Wings 1-0 victory over Colorado: 1) Congratulations to Chris Chelios on another historic milestone (2nd oldest player to play in an NHL game). The guy turns 46 later this month. He's playing as if he's 36, which is amazing as it is. But the league should be promoting this guy more than they are more for the way he carries himself, the way he cares about the league, and the impact he's leaving on the game. In terms of what it means to be a successful modern day pro athlete, and what goes along with that responsibility, Chelios seems to get it. More pro stars should learn from him. 2) Without Joe Sakic and Ryan Smyth, Colorado is done. It can't score. And its not good enough defensively. G Jose Theodore was good tonight, but the Avs can't count on Theodore and Peter Budaj to carry them into the playoffs. 3) First game back and Holmstrom makes an impact.
