wines ...
Just happened to go to a winetasting in michigan this weekend. I am kind of disappionted in the Marketing and the display and the tour trough the winery. yes i know times are tough. but babies and childre under ten or 21should not be aloud at the tour, they did cry and winned alot...made the otur very unplacend and we could hardly hear the tourguide,Also the place need a good CLEANING , Paint job
and flooreplacement or sealing. The outdoor tent was very noisy and the music..etc..Since I have been to france and there winetasting (by grapes) and not by add-on-in fruit that donot grown in michigan ..I just chuckle it of as just a other( strawberry bootns farm make wine) for the market instead of Cola. The did have a WODKA made from grapes?check it out for you self and send it in.
Crane Lake Down Under Chardonnay 2008
Hello, I just happen to stumble on this. I'm actually the sales rep that sells Crane Lake in the Metro Detroit Area. It's mainly in small stores or small chain stores. You won't find it in stores like Meijer or Walmart. It is very good and you can't beat it for the price (and I'm truly not saying that bc I work for the company. It's been a hot item since we launched it) If you would like more information on Crank Lake and the Down Under brand...just shoot me an email at brian_hicks@kentbeverage.com
Thanks!
Crane Lake Down Under Chardonnay 2008
Hello Sandra-
Do you know who has this new Chardonnay in the greater Detroit metro? Am considering as the white wine for a friend's large wedding reception.
WSJ gave a "very good" review.
Wine Laws
Regarding Michigan wine laws: Its not Michigan laws that restrict you from getting wine shipped into CA. Rather the state of CA requires an outstate winery to deposit $500 in escrow towards their wine tax prior to shipping any wine to CA residents. Unless a winery is going to ship 2500+ cases to individuals it is not worth its to register in CA for the right to ship. CA needs to even the playing field and let wineries pay the excise tax as it is accrued. Their excessive requirements don't make it feasible for us midwesterners to compete in the land of milk and honey. B
I think the name of #7 is "Smoking Loon", rather than "Smooking Loon"
Wine Laws
Briefly, I am a transplanted area resident, now living and working in wine country. A couple of weeks back I read an article in the News about some great Michigan Cherry port. Discouragingly, after several phone calls and emails I was unable to obtain a case of Chateau Chantal Cerise due to very prohibative Michigan State laws. What really got me upset is that today I found a Cherry Port from South Africa being sold at my local distributor. Is there nothing we can do to overturn these ridiculous laws in place that provide untold millions of dollars to mofia coffers?
7-Eleven
Maybe a good ice wine could be dispensed from the Slurpee machine.
