Mekhi Phifer is no stranger to diversity.
As a cast member on the long running medical drama "ER," Phifer played Dr. Greg Pratt, a talented African-American surrounded by brilliant medical professionals of all shades and backgrounds.
Phifer, 34, will continue to represent a more diverse workplace when he joins the cast of "Lie to Me," for a second-season debut at 9 tonight on Fox.
The actor will costar as FBI Agent Ben Reynolds, a role writers created for him, he said.
"The beauty of when you watch good television or films is that, yes, you may have a multi-cultural cast but those roles could be anybody. They could be white, they could be black," Phifer told me during a teleconference Friday. "To show the world that we have more in common than we have different with each other is to me the ultimate goal of all of that.
"Yes, there's going to be cultural differences, but for the most part, we are all in the same gang as human beings."
