Best of the rest
trade for another LH reliever or free agent
Maybin
Tigers may rue the day that they
traded Maybin, Miller and others to Marlins.
Don't get me wrong, Cabrera is a great hitter.
But, Tigers gave up a Maybin, a younger player
who will make a much lower salary for 5-6 years
and has all 5 tools including speed and defense
at a much more demanding position CF.
With that extra 20 million + Tigers are paying
Miguel, they could have signed K-Rod to close
for 12 million and picked up three free agent
set up relievers and still had cash left over.
Larish is a natural 1st baseman with a big stick.
Miller is sorely missed in the #5 slot in the
rotation too!
Plus, Tigers are wasting over 10 million per
year on Dontrelle--even though I like D.
He is not producing and tying up Tigers money
and roster spot that could go to other more
deserving players.
Don't get me started on that other crazy deal:
Jurrjens and Gorkys Hernandez for RipoffRenteria!
Tigers would be much better team now if they had not
made those two deals.
If Cameron Maybin becomes a superstar, he might -- might -- get to be as good as Miguel Cabrera, and Andrew Miller has very few folks raving about him these days. So that trade, even with Dave Dombrowski taking Dontrelle Willis to get it done, is a wash at the worst for the Tigers.
There's nothing good to say about the Edgar Renteria-for-Jair Jurrjens trade. That one probably will haunt the Tigers.
