Tigers to win division?

Yes, that was my prediction in March -- Tigers to win 88 games and the Central by a game. But who cares about that now?

I have another prediction, and this time it doesn't involve the Tigers: The Yankess will win the World Series in six games.

I just hope the umpires and November weather don't prove to be a distraction.

One more thing: No, I'm not even sure the Tigers will be able to keep Adam Everett. They'll try, and he'll be willing to return, but other teams will be looking for a bargain shortstop as well.

ditch the final box score already

Why is the box score from the final Tigers/Twins game -- which we all know Detroit lost in 12 innings -- still posted on Tom Gage's page? Does anyone really need that cruel reminder of our colossal collapse?

Tigers to win Division?

I'm with you in terms of demanding accountability for the collapse! Cynical sportswriters like Gage and Henning have had too many bad winds blow toward them from the top of Ford Field next to Comerica Park. A culture of losing and mediocrity is accepted in Detroit for the Lions and Tigers while it is the Red Wings and Pistons who show the way. I actually am glad that Mike Ilitch owns the Tigers because I believe that he has shown over the past four years that he is seriously seeking a championship with this team. I would not at all be surprised for the Tigers to pull another surprise move in the offseason as they did in '07. I would not even be surprised if Ilitch actually increased the payroll in 2010. Also, given the economy do not be surprised if a few of the Tigers' free agents remain unsigned well into the winter and may end up signing back here anyway! The economy has affected other teams too.

Tigers to win Division?

Who cares? I do! And so do hundreds of thousands of other Tiger fans. I'm still mad, still infuriated, still dumbfounded at Leland.
