There would have been a game four

For what's it worth ...

Disliked the Twins getting swept - because the Tigers would not have been. Game 4 would be going on right now at Comerica Park, as I type. They would have eventually lost to the Yankees, but they would not have gotten swept.

Got closer this year, but was still wrong. Last spring I had the Tigers winning the division by one game - with 88 victories. Back to the drawing board.

Admired Dan Dickerson's wonderfully professional call at the end of the game against the Twins, and told him so.

Dickerson hid his immense disappointment and didn't hesitate at all to say that Gomez was going to score, not waiting until he had crossed the plate. Double D has long since turned into a top-notch broadcaster.

Disliked the fact that the Colorado-Philly Game 3 didn't end until after 2 a.m. (Monday) Detroit time - that's after midnight mountain time for those unfortunate frozen fans. If you can't begin a game in a sprinkle, how can you play a game when the temp is in the 20's?

Less than a thrilling overall start for the post-season, wouldn't you say?

Liked the fact that Phil Cuzzi's horrendous call in the Twins-Yankees series didn't get swept under the national carpet - but can you imaging the outrage if it had happened TO the Yankees instead of for the them?

And, no, I don't think Placido Polanco will be back.

Exit???

Dick Mc- I hope you're right and he keeps spending like a drunken sailor, but I'm worried that he'll look at the payroll the last 2 years, see where that's gotten him, and want to reel things in a bit. He needs to look at the a55 clowns running things around here and come to the realization that things have been grossly mis-handled; from GM to manager to coaching staff.

2010 is a new year FDOTC!!! It is all up to Mr I now.Does he have the money and does he think the team can win by spending it?

Exit???

I can hardly stand to watch baseball right now, an inning here, an inning there. The problem is, my numbness and disbelief of us blowing this lead is wearing off, being replaced with anger. Also, I'm coming to the realization that these Tigers, led by this coaching staff, will let fans down in the end.

Tom,

do ya think if ya poured a scotch or two for DD, he'd admit it was a mistake resiging Leyland so early in the season?

Or, resigning him at all?

If DD doesn't have buyers remorse by now.........

TD, Leyland also has ownership of this bullpen. Part of the pens problem was in how it was used.

I agree that the Tigers would not likely have been swept. They would not be helped by the fact that Verlander and Porcello had to be used to close out the Twinkies, but eventually, if Leyland used them effectively (a point that I'm not conceding) they'd both start within the first three games and I don't see the Tiger starters getting swept, even though Dombrowski's lineup is capable of putting up zeros on any given night.

If the Tigers let Polanco, or Lyon, or Rodney go because of money issues, then Dombrowski should be fired. NO team has gotten so little for so much money as the $ 77 million paid for Sheffield, Willis, Bonderman, Robertson, Inge, Guillen, and Ordonez. Half a good season from Inge and a hollow .310 from Magglio doesn't cut it.

The Tigers got less production out of three spots in the lineup where they sold us a "defense first" theory. The Tigers were last in the league in hits and batting avg at Catcher, and Third base, and no better than 11th at shortstop in all the major offense categories. It wasn't good enough, and it's DD's lineup. Don't tell me about defense first if they won't shell out $ 6 million for our steadiest fielder- who can also hit with runners on base.

DD's bullpen was second in the league in blown saves, and 11th in save percentage, despite going 72- 0 with a lead in the ninth. Blame Dombrowski. Where will this bullpen be if they let Rodney go?
