Tom Gage

The Detroit News

Huge win - in my humble opinion

And you know why?

Because they did it with Miguel Cabrera going hitless.

The Tigers are 16-2 when Cabrera gets more three hits or more in a game this season. When he gets fewer than three, however, they are 52-57.

He is the difference between being marginally mediocre and sometimes a notch higher.

But in beating the Rays, the Tigers got two-run doubles from both Gerald Laird and Adam Everett as their big hits.

They can't lean on one hitter for their offense - and this time they didn't.

Agreed, Tom

While we were all commenting on the Blackhole Bottom 3rd of the order yesterday, that is exactly who came through. That is big itself. 2 thru 6 were O fer Game, and we scored 6 with Porcello keeping Tampa at 1 through 5 Plus.
