The Detroit News

Over-analyzing?

That's what Brandon Inge said on Sunday in Cleveland that the Tigers have been doing. Analyzing too much - and "chewing up too much."

Blaming himself as well, Inge said the Tigers' recent approach has been "terrible."

Manager Jim Leyland read the comments - and here's some of what he had to say before Monday night's game.

"We're going to simplify things and see how that works out. Maybe sometimes they get too much information. Players can't have it both ways, though.

"You can't simplify things and also have players say they're not getting enough information.

"So I'm going to tell the hitters to tell (hitting coach Lloyd McClendon) individually how much information they want. I think that sometimes it gets too sophisticated."
