Blackouts
Hey T, I totally agree with you that the Lions fans have put up with this terrible product long enough. I would also like to point out that there's still millions who would at least desire to watch the game on TV, but of course can't due to the stupid blackout rules that the NFL has. Not only are we in a terrible financial crisis, but we have to suffer the punishment of a crap team, and a relentless NFL Commish who won't budge on the rules... It doesn't seem fair to the people! What is your take? Thanks
Terry's Back
Chiropractors are not the answer. I will agree that PT and stretching may indeed do the trick, but chiropractors usually only give a short-term 'fix' and then you'll be going back over and over. If things get really bad, see a doctor of osteopathic medicine (a D.O.) Best trained, best suited for bones and muscles and problems thereof, and they'll treat you with respect and make you feel more comfortable than almost any M.D. you'll ever find.
Best wishes
GRIPE
T, first of all let me say that I wish you the best with your back. My dad has had problems of his own for quite some time, and while he has been able to stay active; he has gone through bouts in which the pain/limited range of motion has indeed "sidelined" him for extended periods of time.
As for the gripe I have to share with you, and one that I'd love you to comment on, is in regards to smaller TV channels picking up playoff games. It's happening in all sports, and it leaves many people in the dark because they can't watch. I, for instance do not get versus b/c the crappy cable provider in my area, Aerialink (Okemos, MI - just outside E. Lansing) is too cheap to give it to us. I managed to miss only a few regular season Wings games, but now have missed some in the playoffs. To make things worse, I just looked at the Round 3 schedule and see that I'm not going to be able to watch any other games other than gm 4. Yes, I can go to bar, but that's not what I want to be doing each and every night! This is just a pain in the rear, and I don't get why national networks want to continue to air their boring evening programs and not show us the playoffs!
Thanks,
Kurt
Why are so many of you against youngsters at the ball park?!
I understand the point of choosing a 'safer' section to sit in, but stop this nonsense that kids that age don't belong there. I'll take my son(s) there from the moment they be outside safely as infants! Baseball will be in their life FOREVER!
What would you have done?
Stuart, you obviously aren't a baseball guy, and that's okay. I'm not about to pass judgment cuz you like football, hockey, or basketball more. BUT I will say this: don't you dare say that a 2 y.o. doesn't belong at the ball park!!! Honestly, that was a dumb thing to say!
And for you T, I would have been torn but probably would have ended up saying (politely) to the guy and suggesting he give the ball to the kid. But it's nice that the ump gave him one.
Pistons
I can't say I agree with you based on one single guy named Joe D. He will not let the team he's built EVER get to the point that the Lions are.
AMEN!
T,
I've been watching the Pistons fall apart the past two or three seasons, and as a result find myself tuning in to watch the Wings each and every time they play simultaneously. Do I enjoy hockey more? Not really. I DO, however enjoy the product and the effort more. As you pointed out, Sheed has not been the same since '04. His antics are no longer tolerable in my book. Frankly, I've felt that way since '06. I was happy to see Chauncey go, b/c he too seemed to get a bit sloppy and careless, and didn't have the same passion last season. The price tag was also inflated in my mind. Stuckey is...well we all know how nicely that's worked out. The spunk and fire has dissipated and I really don't know if I can keep believing in the phrase "GOING TO WORK" that we've heard about our boys in recent years. Without attempting to breakdown the entire roster, I'll leave with one more thing: does anyone else miss Lindsey coming off the bench to get us a steal and dish out a few assists? I know he's pretty darn old and probably no longer has a place on our team though...
THANKS!
Here is what happens with a basketball team. The parts are together too long. You get to complacent and too comfortable. The fire leaves. Legs get older and tired. It is time to give young talent a chance.
What has happened to the Pistons is no different than what happens with other teams. They need to be revamped. No coach is going to change it. They need a fresh start with fresh players.

one probelm w/ the lions changing things
Hey T,
I'm certainly all for CHANGE in the office, on the field, and the sidelines. I'm also open to the idea of switching up the color scheme and the logo. I agree with you that it's no all that appealing (or intimidating). My one concern is that it's the WORST time you could imagine to bring new apparel to the stores. You know how bad this state is suffering, and for the people who are fans of this team, they're going to have to deal with the dilemma of buying the new gear. I'd like to hear your thought on that. (think back to the discussion you and Mike had about the outrageous price of ball caps these days - sporting teams apparel is not cheap to begin with...)
And I couldn't agree with you more in regards to the Whalers (or any OHL game for that matter). It's great to buy a cheap ticket and enjoy 2 hours of tough hockey where you're sure to see at least one fight! I'm glad to hear Little B enjoyed himself. I've also been to Windsor to see the Spitfires play the Whalers. I would definitely recommend going there.
Regards,
Kurt
Kurt, Just because the Lions change a logo does not mean you have to rush out and buy a jersey or T-shirt. This is about changing the way a bad organization works. You can still wear your old Lions gear to games. I want to see changes from top to bottom with the Lions. It is time. What are we waiting for?

swell
You're on a roll Big T! I've been very, very pleased to read your last 3 pieces. First of all, I am also very fed up that the media and black community are ignoring Pres. Obama's white heritage; it's plain asinine if you ask me. Second, it is indeed sad that we've lost WDFN. I didn't even know about it until I read the blog. (side bar: I recently moved to E.L. to attend Osteopathic Medical School at MSU and man does the radio up here suck! Not only are the music choices pathetic, but there isn't a single descent talk show - especially sports related - here at all! It really makes me miss living downtown at WSU and listening to you two!) And lastly, Marinelli is a little turd. I don't know what else to say. Having said that, you're blatant grasp on the simple reality of yet another dumb situation (in which you call it like it is and ask for people to be accountable for their actions) makes me love your mind and your writing even more.
And one other thing: it's refreshing to hear you speak about raising your children with manners, integrity, sportsmanship, your family's love, and enjoying the pleasantries that life has to offer (ATHLETICS especially!)
Keep up the great work, and God Bless!
Thank you for the note. Mike and I have tried to get the show to be played on stations in Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and other Michigan cities. But our efforts have been rejected.
I also want to thank you for the other comments. I appreciate them and am motivated in this business by the feed back (both good and bad) that I receive from readers and listeners.
Good luck in school and study hard.
