the lions....
when it costs over $100 for me and my girlfriend to watch the lions play the rams and then still lose to the rams how can i justify buying tickets to the game? We were going to go downtown and buy tickets to the rams game but I had a feeling it was going to be a terrible game and bulger has never lost to the lions so we didnt go. I thank god we didnt go because I would still be pissed that we wasted $100+ dollars to watch that game. And By the way My girlfriend is very dissapointed that you didnt get her the autographed picture she wanted. she told me about it for the first time today lol.

Dumb teams like the lions. I'm sorry terry your ignorant. Trade a pick for Marc Bulger. Were not getting Cutler, and Daunte sucks. I normally agree with you but your wrong about not getting bulger. Im an NFL junkie and have researched every teams roster. he is a proven QB who is on the outs. look what kitna did and he isnt half as good as Bulger.
hold on now
first off,you get Andre smith and Cheridis you have better protection than in earlier lions seasons.
second off your not getting marc bulger for a fourth or fith round pic. I am stunned that you would even say that. I would debate a second round pic, but fourth or fifth? your crazy.
who does he have to throw too? the rams frequently trade there good wide receivers. And if you want to tell me Torry Holt is there ace, tell me the last season he played healthy. the last time he did Bulger had a good season. you want Cullpepper, Orlovski, or Stanton starting? because I don't. This is not a matt millen like idea. when did matt millen trade for a pro bowl caliber qb? he never did. and dont say culpepper. he was watching football on tv the last 2 seasons. I think you are too quick to dismiss this idea. the only other decent vet qb available would be Hasselbeck and he has a striking resemblance to kitna. And god knows a rookie qb is not the answer.
Why bring in a player who is just a little bit above OK? He is not what he used to be. The Lions are going to be young and bad. Bring in a quarterback that will grow with them in time.

just a question
I was wondering if there was any chance we could get Marc bulger. please don't discredit me as an NFL know nothing, I'm not. god knows they aren't happy with him in saint Louis. I would be willing to trade one of our first rounders for him. he was and still is an elite quarterback. he just has no protection. let me paint this picture. we get Andre smith with our first pick, along with having goster charidous. and we trade the second first round pick for Bulger. please note that I would be willing to give up more that our second first round pic but our second round pick as well as any player short of Calvin Johnson they wanted. he is a QB with a few seasons left and definitely wants to re dime himself. if you have a better idea let me know.
I am sorry buddy. I don't mean to bust your chops, but I didn't know Matt Millen read my blog.
You cannot give up a first-round pick for Marc Bulger. The past two seasons he has had more interceptions than touchdown passes. Bulger might be a Mike Martz invention, that put up false stats. He had one nice season under Martz and then it has been all down hill.
You can get a guy like Bulger, if you want him, for a fourth or fifth round pick. And you mention that the Rams did not provide him protection. Have you seen any protection around here the past few years?
I am not going to call you dumb. It is just a dumb idea.

terry just keep doing the same thing you are doing and you will have the lead sports writer role. i don't mean to be a cheer leader or a jerk but you deserve the job. you and mike put on a hell of a show every day. me and my friends always enjoy it and always discuss the week in events from your show every weekend at the bar. you show helps up forget about the financial woes of the state on our way home from work. so just keep on doing what your doing terry. on a separate note i would like to talk to you about some Detroit subjects. i lived there for 2 years but eventually had to move out because of the economy. I would really like to talk to somebody about how Detroit was. I'm posting my number here which is a bad idea but I would really like to here from you about the situation the city is in. I'm posting my number cause I'm too embarrassed to call you. (586) 992-0250 my name is Dan. I respect your opinion very much.
your in
mr smoking catnip, you are mistaking the word brash with stupid. he made the comments he made for publicity and hopefully it backfired. terry is a more then capable sports writer. much better then the trash talking rob parker. are you giving him accolades because he was on first take like 6 times? not a good reason.
your in
me and about 20 of my friends were ecstatic to hear rob parker resigned today. we all want you to fill the lead sports writer role. you can do it. we all listen to you on 97.1 on the way home from work. make us proud.we aren't just saying this.
Thank you. I appreciate the support and everybody knows that is what I want to do. But it is not my decision. I hope for the opportunity. I will simply work hard and hope for the best.
You must also understand Rob is a friend. I do not wish ill will on anybody.

steve from oxford
Steve from oxford, i don't mean to be rude but its rather obvious that you haven't purchased tickets to a lions game in quite some time. i usually go to 3 games a year at ford field and at $70 a ticket mind you. when i see them get blow out and pay a ridiculous amount of money at that i don't mind them going 0-16. obviously if your watching from your couch for free there is a difference of opinion. it is obvious to me you haven't payed to go to a game at ford field this year. it inst the least bit entertaining.
rob parker is an idiot
i just wanted to say that i at least give you the nod to be lead sports writer for the Detroit news after the comments rob made after the game yesterday. his comments were inappropriate and rude. regardless of your evaluation of the coach you don't attack someones family. how many times did Rod Marinelli attack Rob Parkers family. Yes the lions suck but talk about being a classless piece of garbage. i already commented on rob parkers page about how you should take his job. you have always been more qualified and more entertaining. and your not a jackass. do you think you could fill the role? i don't think anyone thought his postgame interview was funny or appropriate.
It is probably best for me to not comment beyond that of course I can do the job.

kevin smith
his best quote so far was that he is playing on an nfl team with high school talent. cant put it any better then that.
lions....
I was at the Minnesota game this week and it was like attending a funeral. 20% of the people probably had free tickets and the other 80% were rooting for a lose. i cant say i wasn't rooting for a lose too. this team needs to lose 16 games to teach the players and coaching staff to actually care about a game. WE COULDN'T BEAT THE TEXANS. there not very good and there the most turnover team in the league. i live in Detroit and i don't care if they go 0-16 they deserve it. the players we have don't play with exception to few. I'm surprised you don't want 0-16 as well.actually I'm kind of disappointed. this team doesn't deserve to win a game. black eye on the city my a** lose them all.
0-16
they will go 0-16 terry. the biggest mistake was signing cullpepper when we should have waited at got mcnabb. we had the surplus to provide a more than lucrative offer at mcnabb to at least play a year here. but i dont even really know what to propose considering everything is so bad. Ernie Sims is the most polished turd on defense, which by the way would be second string on most squads. and like Kevin smith said after the game Sunday said he is playing on an NFL team with high school talent. i listen to you guys every day on 97.1 but its always a new problem. im glad i dont have your job because you guys have to talk about the relentless and ever coming problems with the lions. but i have one question to ask, if you where gm what is the big changes you would make? im just curious cause i wouldn't have a clue with the debacle that is on the field.
I would have loved McNabb. I think he gags in big moments, but at least he would get the Lions to the big moment. They have not had a big moment or big game in nearly a decade. It is sad and ridiculous. But they will trot Culpepper out next season and he will be a disaster.

culpepper
ok terry let me take you to school on this real quick. kevin smith is a bust. he has it wrote on his face, he is afriad to get hit. he is neither fast or hard hitting. much like hmm..... aveon cason. so we have 2 casons on the team. plus stanton who at best was decent/servicable at state. plus lets note how many times he has been injured in practice. against the lions practice team!!!!!!. everyone get off the stanton train please. we need to sign a veteran qb just maybe not culpepper. but we still neglect the fact that the o-line blows. until its fixed theres no hope
I agree with just about everything you said. The team is bad. But is Culpepper the answer? Does he fix all of this? Or is it better to look beyond Stanton, Culpepper and Orlovsky and try to find the right quarterback -- instead of just the best quarterback you happen to have.

the lions
i say deal Kitna to the patriots for a 4th round pick and see what Stanton can do.Orlovski will be a mess he has been in the locker room too long. we need fresh blood in the offense. god knows it will still be bad but lets see what Stanton will do. and while I'm playing GM lets deal Williams (who i think is pretty darn good)to the eagles for Lito Sheppard. because like i and everyone else knew when we traded Shawn rogers for him he was going to be a disaster and has definitely lived up to the role. that is one deal that can happen because i know the eagles strait up offered Lito for williams in training camp.
First of all New England is not going to give you a fourth round pick for Kitna. The Patriots are better off with Matt Cassel then bringing in someone this late to learn the system. The Lions are pretty much stuck with what they've got unless they can get a third round pick or something for Roy Williams.

hockeytown
Ive worked as a waiter at hockeytown cafe for about a year and a half, but I had the absolute thrill of a life time yesterday. we had the players only vip party before the parade yesterday and it made me feel like the kid in the candystore. everywhere my fellow co workers and i walked there was another hockey icon. gordy howe, yzerman, mcarty ,kocur and on and on... but nothing came close to getting to meet my idol since I was a kid, dominic hasek. I literally ran down and dropped $35 on one of the locker room hats so I'd have something to sign. it was just an awsome day. i dont know why im telling you this, maybe cause not everyone appreciates a story like that, or maybe to give people the behind the scenes perspective. but all in all what a day.
