Pistons' body language says they are toast
I actually ran into a Pistons fan who said Detroit would upset Cleveland in the opening round of the NBA playoffs. Of course, that prediction was made before Saturday's 102-84 loss in Game 1.
The Pistons are broken and in a state of disrepair. All you have to do is look at their body language. They don't seem to care about one another. They act as if they are playing with strangers.
They look like dead men walking.
This series is going to be short and will have an uncomfortable ending for the Pistons. It reminds me of 1991, when the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan swept the Pistons and ended the Bad Boy era. Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer led the infamous walking-off-the-court incident, and the two-time NBA champions were history.
Now the Cavs and their superstar, LeBron James, are about to land a TKO to the jaw of the current Pistons team, all but ending the current run. Actually, the run was over last season, but many Piston fans held on to hope, even after Allen Iverson destroyed team chemistry and whatever chance the Pistons had of making noise in the playoffs.
Trading Chauncey Billups for Iverson looks like the worst trade in Pistons history. We see Billups and the Nuggets crushing folks out west while Iverson is no longer even with the Pistons.
Now the only dignity the Pistons can salvage is to try not to get swept by the Cavs as this current era comes to a close. They are headed down the same path as the Bad Boys. They are about to get destroyed by the James Gang. The only difference is, I do not expect a walkout at The Palace.

It all goes back to Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals last year. The Pistons have a nice lead on the Celtics going into the fourth quarter, and Sheed goes into the tank. Chauncey plays his heart out but that fact is lost on Joe Dumars who declares that the whole team is on the trading block except for Rodney Stuckey. That was the beginning of the end. I realize that every run has to end sometime, but this years Pistons are the only team to make the playoffs with a less than .500 record. They are lucky that they are still playing.

Actually thought about the 1991 Pistons too.....2009 reminds me of the end of an era....just as 1991 did.
I find it sad...really very sad to see what has been happening this entire season...
This entire season has been up..down..and all around...
It isn't just one thing..it has been many things.
The Iverson experiment was a disaster...for sure.
Who would have thought prior to November 3rd...that this would have been the season finale.??
I think and this is my observation....that our guys spirit has been broken...it was broken bit by bit this entire season...
it's a shame. just a darn shame.
I agree. The spirit was broken. But it was being broken well before this season. They landed with a thud every season and fans were complaining about Piston melt downs. I am glad this season happened. The Pistons need a cleansing and it was not going to happen even if Billups stayed. They are tired, mentally fried and it is time to find the next generation.

Coach-less Curry actually said he thinks we will win this series--Question-do coaches take steroids too? this one must!!
He is just trying to remain positive. He should have kept it to himself but a guy is supposed to believe he can win. If he thinks he is going to lose, what good is he?
