Tigers Roll Sevens
Have you ever seen a dad wave good bye to his children in the morning?
That's the way the Tigers looked at the plate during Monday afternoon's 5-0 smothering to the Boston Red Sox a Fenway Park. They didn't get very many good cuts or even fair cuts. They appeared off balance and confused while whiffing after just about every pitch that came their way.
Now the Tigers are 0-7 and I will admit I am stunned by this. I never expected this team to lose seven in a row at any time this season, let alone to begin the season. But baseball is a strange sport. I kept reading that the Baltimore Orioles were the worst team in the American League.
So what are they doing with a 6-1 record?
Manager Jim Leyland says it is too early to change things. I disagree. Somebody needs to do something even if it is running nude through the dressing room. The Tigers can't just stand here and take it without trying to something.
Do anything even if it is stupid.

Tigers
I agree that we should start to worry a little regarding the Tigers poor start. What I don't understand is why everyone is jumping on Cabrera and saying he wasn't worth the prospects. Cabrera is one of (if not the best) young players in the game. Maybin and Andrew Miller would have no impact on this team right now and history will prove that Dombrowski was a genius for going after Cabrera. Being that Maybin and Miller are "prospects" they very well could end up being average players at best. The Tigers have a proven "stud" in Cabrera.
Tiger fans are looking short term. You are looking long term and he will need this season unfortunately to adjust to American League pitching. But he is going to be fine. I do not worry about him.

The Tigers Need Group Therapy
I am completely stunned by the 0-7 start myself as well, and I agree, someone does need to change something. The irony, in a way, is that the best performer thus far is the very person they have periodically wanted to offload - Brandon Inge. Perhaps if the team believed it had something to prove as Brandon seems to think he does....
Actually, the whole team needs group therapy at this point - the elements are all there, for the most part, for this to be a pretty good team. Someone needs to figure out what is going on in their heads. It seems to me that the "Series-bound" talk has made them believe other teams should somehow roll over. Not even the Royals will do that.
Normally I would laugh at your letter but you are right. Much of what we are seeing is between the head. These are still great players. You do not become bad overnight. That is impossible. Right?
I think.
