Just to build on Libbyneedsajob's post. A recent poll taken by the Bay City Times (you know a paper that is actually near Standish, not some blog that is ran by the Washington Post) shows that more people are against bringing in the Gitmo detainees than are for bringing them in. Again I really don't have a dog in this fight, other than to point out that Libby should probably not comment on things that she has no clue about and if she is, she should research both sides of the issue and not just rely on a Left Leaning blog to do her research for her...

Just a few comments. Of course the system needs to be reformed. I dont know of anyone who doesnt think that the Health Care system needs to be reformed. But some of us do not think that you need to blow it up and start over. Why not take what is working and fix what is not working ?
And for the example you use in your post, every Nurse that I know of has their choice of jobs and can almost name their salary, I am not sure what this gentlemen's issue is but he should be able to find a full time job as a nurse..

Ok, I will bite. How was I wrong ? I never mentioned anything about Hokestra and personally dont care how he gets in front of a camera.
Maddow is a "real" journalist ? Her degree is in Public Policy (per wikipedia). She is nothing more than a blow hard for the Left. That only about 100,000 people per night watch(I am not sure on that number but I know it is really low). If she was such a great journalist and had a great show, her ratings would be great and more people would be watching...
As for Fox, I watch occasionally, but I find it comical that lefties always assume that all Conservatives watch Fox. I think they are jealous...

The last time I was on I-95 in Washington D.C. I didnt see an exit for Detroit,s for I-10 which I believe is in California or I-40 which East-West through Tennessee and I am sure much further than that...

Let's point out some things. China is not the Worlds Police Force the U.S. is. Now if you would like to have the U.S. pull back on that task I am all for it, however I bet the rest of the world would not like it.
Another thing, China only has to worry about defending China and no one else. The U.S. on the other hand, is involved in Nato and other organizations like that, which we are required (by treaty) to provide a presence and assistance when asked.
There is also a thing called deterrence, if we did not keep up with R&D of Military Technology we would fall behind very quickly and then we would be even weaker still. Just having the "Big Stick" has prevented far more than you will ever know about...

Here is the problem. If Ford's profit is mostly from C4C, what happens next quarter ? The stimulus and C4C is just a temporary fix, and very short term at that. It is possible that next quarter Ford could loose money. You also have states like Michigan using almost a half a billion dollars in Stimulus money to plug a hole in the state budget, as opposed to using it for stimulus. Again a problem. Instead of giving money to specific industries, like road repair and schools and such, give everyone a tax break and let us decide on how to spend OUR money...

Very well said, and that was my exact point. I love how "educated" people continue to refer to the Unites States as a Democracy, when in fact, as Con Pat correctly states we are actually no where near a Democracy. We are a Federal Republic and we are governed by the U.S. Constitution, not the whims of the party that happens to be in power. The Founders chose this form of Government so the people could have freedom and not be shackled by the Elites.
A simple High School History Class is in order for the majority of the U.S.!! (They may have already done a revisionist re-write on that by now as well)

Thanks for pointing this out. I was one of the people who could not take advantage of the Cash for Clunkers program, because my car gets too good of gas mileage. I am one of the folks that the car companies would like to have as a customer as I buy a new car every 3-4 years. Now I am just going to hold on to what I have, since I have help subsidized every new car purchased in August...
