Government
skresla quote: "...the size of the government went up by 40% over the last 8 years. And we all remember who was in power, right?"
Yes, I do recall who was in power, the Democrats controlled Congress. Maybe you should get your facts straight. It's one thing to not like Bush (I didn't like some of his policies either), but the GOP was NOT in total control as you state...
skresla quote #1: "...This is exactly what so-called conservative and neocon propaganda has been trying to do..."
skresla quote #2: "...I am not calling people who believe in what that board says "unpatriotic" or something like that..."
I don't know, it sounds like you are to me, but I am conservative simpleton who is "self-righteously misguided"...
skresla quote: "...the problem with cons and neocons (just like the ultra-leftists) is that most of them - for whatever reason - seem to have made an opinion before studying the facts."
All evidence to the contrary, it appears you and the progressive liberals are the ones who form and cling to opinions while ignoring facts:

Conservative Dissent = Treasonous calls to violence
Libby + Skresia = Hypocrites
No News = Bad News
Libby quote: "Chris, I believe it was Walmart that was offering the Palin book for five bucks. I'd bet if you google the name of the book and five dollars together you might find it..."
WalMart is selling the book for $14.50: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12558252. I also "Googled" the book and that is the cheapest I have seen it. You can get a copy for donating $100 to some different piltical organizations, but this is not what you said in your post. Your response confirms my suspicions that you simply made it up:
Libby's previous quote: Considering I've seen the book discounted as low as around five bucks and even offered for free as a bonus for subscribing to one of the right wing websites...
If you can not provide a source to back up your claims for the $5 book or the website subscription, please update your post or print your retraction here ===>
On a side note, "Audacity of Hope" is available on Amazon for $7.99 and I have a source:

Libby Spencer - Retraction/Correction Needed
Libby quote: "Update: Since I've posted this I've heard that Cafe Press suspended sales of the t-shirt after being informed of the content of the whole Psalm."
Libby and those of her progressive ilk are happy to supress expression of dissent, while similar t-shirts inciting violence against Bush go ignored (see previous comments below).
Libby quote: "If you look up that passage in the Bible it starts: "Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."
Libby should probably purchase a Bible and learn to read it, because she is factually mistaken:
Psalm 109, Verse 8: "Let his years be few and brief; let others step forward to replace him."
The parts of that Psalm she claims "incite violence" are NOT the verse cited on the shirt!!!
Libby, please admit your Biblical error here ===>
Please address TDC's point that your "conservative" claim was also in error here ===>
*Note to DetNews Moderators - to maintain credibility for your publication, at some point you need to start reviewing Libby Spencer's posts for factual accuracy as she is starting to post outright lies.
Angry Liberal LIE
Libby's entire post is based on a LIE:
Psalm 109, Verse 8
"Let his years be few and brief; let others step forward to replace him."
The other "hateful" parts of that verse are NOT part of the verse cited on the shirt!!!
Libby please admit your twisting of facts and/or outright lie here ===>

More road games with Libby...
More fun "road trip" game with Libby. Let's play "I Spy!"...
I spy... A mistake...
Libby quote (from previous post):"...line up again to get her to sign her [Palin's] book tonight, which I understand had to have been purchased at full retail from Barnes & Noble. "
Libby quote (from this post): "...here is the DetNews coverage of Sarah Palin in Grand Rapids in photos [link] and video [link]."
One of those photos in Libby's collection is here:
http://multimedia.detnews.com/pix/photogalleries/newsgallery/palin/index11.html
Hmmm... Is that a "30% OFF" sticker on the front cover?
Libby, please feel free to admit your error here ===>
Fun on the Road with Libby...
Thought I'd just have a little fun with Libby on her moving day...
Libby quote (previous post): "Otherwise, my posting has been light because I'm moving for the third time this year."
This is your second post today, please let us know when it gets "light"...
Libby quote (previous post): "...unless you care about what Sarah Palin is doing and I definitely don't care."
This is your second post today mentioning her, please tell us again how you don't care...
Libby quote (this post): "Meanwhile, the person who actually won an election, our President, has been in Asia on a diplomatic trip."
Yep, he took off just before the NY terrorist trial debacle went public. But here's some non-White House opinion on the Asia trip:

I thought Libby would particularly enjoy those last two stories...
Libby quote: "...unless you care about what Sarah Palin is doing and I definitely don't care."
Yeah, that's why you're posting about it... (funny...)
Libby quote: " I was mildly interested to hear hundreds of people lined up in the freezing cold in Grand Rapids..."
Actually it was over a thousand:
"Michigan fans welcome Palin"
http://www.detnews.com/article/20091119/POLITICS02/911190403/1022/Michigan-fans-welcome-Palin
Libby quote: "...to sign her [Palin's] book tonight, which I understand had to have been purchased at full retail from Barnes & Noble."
Sorry Libby, there's no government program to distribute free copies of Sarah's book. Sometimes, things actually cost money - a foreign concept to progressives, we realize...
Libby quote: "Considering I've seen the book discounted as low as around five bucks and even offered for free as a bonus for subscribing to one of the right wing websites..."
Please let me know which websites are offering the "free" or "$5" deal. You'll save me a few bucks as the largest discount I've seen on "Going Rogue" is 40% at Borders (it's odd that the other best sellers are 50% off). But I'd appreciate knowing those websites, unless you want to send me your copy of the book after you've finished it.
Libby quote:" Otherwise, my posting has been light because I'm moving for the third time this year."
Well, that's what happens when you "jump bail" - constant relocation. (joke...) Have a safe move...

My apologies Sushi... I was distracted by these news stories. What were you saying?
Sushi quote: "Or wait, just because I don't attack the Dems, means I am one? Sounds like a Republican to me."
Janman quote: "You say nothing about the Dems, plenty about the GOP - to the extreme of a myopia. Then you wonder why this confuses us bumpkins. So explain to us in simple terms, terms even we bumpkins can understand, how you are different than Spencer? Again, remember, we are simple people."
Uhh... I think Janman covered that quite well...
Sushi quote (about GOP): "Small Tent, Small Mind."
Thanks for the pithy catchphrase - straight from the DNC. Tell us again how you're not a Democrat...
By the way, I always enjoy the liberal Democrat hypocisy that differences of opinion within the Democrat Party are considered "a spectrum and diversity of ideas" while the same differences within the GOP are called "political in-fighting"...
Maybe you could visit the DNC website regale us with an explanation on this...
Just more bull in 2009...
Sushi, I am confused as to why you think I went to the trouble of "Googling" your name. If it is because of my reference to your Oklahoma roots, maybe you should read your own post:
Sushi quote:"Full Disclosure: I am an Oklahoma Sooner, Sooner born and Sooner bred, and when I die, Sooner Dead. Mako out."
If it is because I mention that your are a sushi chef or own a sushi bar, it is because your have mentioned it either in your past post or comments. Really, I can address the majority of your comments on their face without having to resort to progressive tactics of digging for "uugly nuggets" to smear the messenger...
Sushi quote: "The GOP tacked hard to the right when McCain was trying to tack to the middle. The strategy failed when Palin became a greater populist candidate than the war hero, then proceeded to try and run for President while he was still running."
Some people would view that as McCain didn;t represent the core values of the party, nor had Bush on some fronts. Had you ever considered that, or are your seats so far into one end zone that you can;t see the other?
My theory is the GOP base had seen Bush desert GOP principles on some fronts and were ultimately dissappointed in the selection of GOP candidates brought forth as more of the same "middle of the road, Democrat-lite" candidates that their very rival (read: democrats like you) had said they needed to put forth. This is akin to letting GM tell Ford what kind of cars they need to build...
When Palin came onboard the conservatives base was re-energized and the libs became frightened. The lame-stream media and liberal blogging armies went crazy and attacked her in every way they possibly could, including sending reporters to dig through dumpsters in Alaska for the "ugly nuggets" I referred to earlier. All the while, they ignored the some of the same weaknesses carried by the "annointed one" as well (read: inexperience), they also enjoyed attacking her children while Obama's family was "off-limits"...
Even now, they continue to give her "special" treatment on her books release:
"AP Turns Heads for Devoting 11 Reporters to Palin Book 'Fact Check'"
"Reviewing books and holding public figures accountable is at the core of good journalism, but the treatment Palin's book received appears to be something new for the AP. The organization did not review for accuracy recent books by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, then-Sen. Joe Biden, either book by Barack Obama released before he was president or autobiographies by Bill or Hillary Clinton. The AP did more traditional news stories on those books."
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/11/17/ap-turns-heads-devoting-reporters-palin-book-fact-check/
But it's interesting to see that you share the same perspective on the matter as "experts" such as Olbermann, Behar, Megan McCain and Whoopi Golderg. Maybe you should immortalize those arguments in your restaurant by creating a "hypocrite roll" which is simply seaweed wrapped around hot air...
Government doesn't work...
After looking at these recent stories, I think the burden of proof rests with Libby to explain how government-run health care would "work"...
"Jobs 'Saved or Created' in Congressional Districts That Don't Exist"
"Here's a stimulus success story: In Arizona's 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that's what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says. There's one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts."
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/jobs-saved-created-congressional-districts-exist/story?id=9097853
"Gov't Wastes $98B in Taxpayer Dollars in 2009"
"More than $98 billion in taxpayer dollars spent by government agencies was wasted, much of it on questionable claims for tax credits and Medicare benefits, representing an increase of $26 billion from the previous year."
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/11/17/govt-wastes-b-taxpayer-money/
"Obama Admin Slashed 60,000 Jobs From Recent Stimulus Report"
"The Obama administration, under fire for inflating job growth from the $787 billion stimulus plan, slashed over 60,000 jobs from its most recent report on the program because the reporting outlets had submitted "unrealistic data," according to a document obtained by ABC News."
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/abc-news-exclusive-obama-administration-slashed-60000-jobs/story?id=9095621
So I think it is Libby that needs to explain why these bureaucratic automatons would do any better at running our health care...
But she won't, because she can't. Time to MoveOn to her next subject...
What conflicting opinions?
In their ususl fascist manner, the green progressives try and silence their opposition:
"EPA Employees Silenced for Criticizing Cap and Trade"
"Their bosses in San Francisco approved the effort by Williams and Zabel to release the tape, but after an editorial they wrote appeared in the Washington Post, EPA Director Lisa Jackson ordered the pair to remove the video or face disciplinary action. Specifically, the administration's chief environmental official did not want Williams or Zabel mentioning their four decades with the EPA -- time spent studying cap and trade."

Health insurance and care
MTC: what I meant by "taxes employers pay" was taxes companies pay for themselves (that could be used for other things like capital investment, return to shareholders and job creation)...
Didn;t mea to create confusion on the matter. But felt that "Umm... What taxes?" was a really ignorant comment...
Americans Care about Health Care
Seems like supporters of the Democrat's current plan are in the minority:
"Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters remain opposed to the [health care] plan proposed by the president and congressional Democrats, while 45% are in favor of it. Still, a majority continues to believe the health care plan will be passed into law before the end of the year."

Health insurance and care
Skresla comment:"Umm... what taxes?"
How about the 20-50% that our employers pay, the additional 30% that comes out of our paychecks, the extra 6.5% we pay on top of the marked retail price, the extra amounts that we pay for gas, liquor and our homes?
Someone is NOT paying attention...
