The media seems intent on spinning yesterday's elections as some kind of dire warning to the Democrats and progressive liberals. Maybe they just haven't noticed that Democrats won 5 out of 5 of the last special Congressional elections. And in the remarkably under-reported contest in California, the Democratic candidate who won in a landslide came out strongly in favor of health care reform. Again the lesson for Dems is they were given a mandate in 08 to enact progressive policies and the surest path to failure is to ignore the voters' obvious will and continue to cater to their corporate benefactors under the pretense of some mythical public desire for bipartisanship.
As for the resounding defeat of the Tea Party conservatives' candidate in upstate NY, I think that speaks pretty much for itself. The GOP had a decent candidate that hewed to 90% of the conservative agenda but was purged from the race for failing to meet their 100% ideological purity test. Despite high profile endorsements from Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty and other Tea Party favorites, and I've heard around $3 million in outside funding by conservative groups, the voters of NY23 wisely chose to seat a candidate who actually lived in the district and has knowledge of the local issues.
I'm seeing that the Tea Party people are still spinning this as a win because they forced out the GOP's handpicked candidate and intend to keep going with this strategy. If they want to keep "winning" by losing, that's okay with me. Let the purges surge.

"Progressives" Libby?
The funny thing about the progressive ideology is that it is not only unAmerican, it is exactly 180 degrees opposite from the ideals espoused in the US Constitution. Personal property? Forget about it! Equal protection of the law? Not a CHANCE! Freedom of religion? Are you kidding!? The right to life? Not if you are a baby! Want to own a gun? Not only no but HECK no, if you have a gun you can kick the progressives out!
Ever notice that the people under active ethics investigations are progressive caucus members? Ever notice one of the co-founders of the progressive caucus is an avowed communist? Ever notice that most of the progressive caucus members all belong to other caucuses based in racist ideology such as the CBC? Ever notice progressives don't want the government enforcing the right to life of living unborn babies but DEMAND the government run every other aspect of their "healthcare"? Yesterday I learned that the progressives in the White House ordered the Fed Reserve Chariman of NY to threaten private/non-TARP accepting banks with FDIC audits if they didn't follow THE GOVERNMENT'S ORDERS about payroll... unless of course you are a "friend of theirs".
And they do it all under the "general welfare clause" and the "implied powers" they say it gives them... as if destroying freedom increases the general welfare of the people of the United States.
Libby's spinning hard today...
So based on Libby's assertion, Obama and Palin had little impact on the elections.
If she's correct, it's bad for the liberal Dems. The POTUS has turned the equity of the WH and the office of POTUS to just about "0". Think about it...
If Libby's wrong and he had a negative impact, we all know that's worse for the liberal Dems...
So which is it Libby? Bad or worse?

CG, read the post again. Did I say Palin caused the loss? No. I said her endorsement wasn't enough to put him over the top. The point being the voters in all those races didn't care about star power on either side.
Libby's spinning hard today...
If Hoffman had 2 more weeks to campaign he would have won by double digits.
Libby's spinning hard today...
After GWB got elected a couple Democrat Governors got elected. I am sure Libby made a big deal out of it. She is so partison is makes me want to gag.

Hoffman before Palin, 13%. After Palin 46%. Numbers don't lie. I also fail to see how when the GOP stumps for a candidate and he loses its a "big loss" for the party, but as Chris explained Obama stumped multiple times for NJ and VA and even though they lost, its not a loss for the president.
This is the same layer cake that Gibbs is forcing down our throats. Keep drinking the Kool-aid Libby. You want an example of Democratic leadership look no farther then this blog. Michigan and Detroit is a prime example of what Democrats can do when placed in charge.
Libby's spinning hard today...
She's already put up a couple psts about how meaningless the GOP victories were last night...
She's trying a bit TOO hard...
Keep posting Libby, at least you beleive what you're saying...
