Breeding domestic terrorists
If you remember the firestorm over the DHS advisory report on far right, domestic terrorists, this is exactly what they were talking about. The suspect in the murder of Dr. George Tiller, Scott P. Roeder, was a member of an anti-government group in the 1990s and a staunch opponent of abortion. He has posted disturbing comments on various anti-choice forums and was apparently a supporter of a group that not too subtly advocates the murder of abortion doctors.
Then we have irresponsible TV commentators like Bill O'Reilly who featured Dr Tiller in 28 segments of his program, characterizing him as "Tiller the Baby Killer" and falsely implied he was doing convenience abortions for rich and well connected elitists who simply decided they didn't want to have a baby after all. Put all this together and it creates the environment that encourages a mentally disturbed person like Roeder to act out on their implied suggestions.
The anti-choice crowd paints these late term abortions as a black and white situation and it's true on its face that Dr. Tiller terminates fetuses that are theorectically viable. However it's never that simple. Indulge me while I quote at length, one couple's experience with Dr. Tiller.
In 1994 my wife and I found out that she was pregnant. The pregnancy was difficult and unusually uncomfortable but her doctor repeatedly told her things were fine. Sometime early in the 8th month my wife, an RN who at the time was working in an infertility clinic asked the Dr. she was working for what he thought of her discomfort. He examined her and said that he couldn't be certain but thought that she might be having twins. We were thrilled and couldn't wait to get a new sonogram that hopefully would confirm his thoughts. Two days later our joy was turned to unspeakable sadness when the new sonogram showed conjoined twins. Conjoined twins alone is not what was so difficult but the way they were joined meant that at best only one child would survive the surgery to separate them and the survivor would more than likely live a brief and painful life filled with surgery and organ transplants. We were advised that our options were to deliver into the world a child who's life would be filled with horrible pain and suffering or fly out to Wichita Kansas and to terminate the pregnancy under the direction of Dr. George Tiller.
...The nightmare of our decision and the aftermath was only made bearable by the warmth and compassion of Dr. Tiller and his remarkable staff. Dr. Tiller understood that this decision was the most difficult thing that a woman could ever decide and he took the time to educate us and guide us along with the other two couples who at the time were being forced to make the same decision after discovering that they too were carrying children impacted by horrible fetal anomalies.
It seems rather clear in this case that a late term abortion was the most merciful choice for the baby. Few physicians had the courage of Dr. Tiller to undertake this practice. He had already been shot once, had his clinic vandalized, his staff intimidated and was forced to fight lawsuits to establish the legality of his work. His killer didn't just take Tiller's life, he condemned some children in the future to endure great pain and suffering in life by destroying a mother's right to choose to spare her unborn child that horrible fate.

I assume you are referring to the anti-war fellow who killed one and wounded two at a military base. I'm sure the hate speech you are referring to was all those folks calling Bush, Cheney and their administration baby killers. How sad.

We know that you lefties are trying to make this out to be an organized plot on the behalf of us conservatives.
That is the whole idea behind this suddenly becoming front page news as such. It is also the idea behind the report that "identified" conservative groups as potential terrorists.
Left wing groups - such as the recent Islamic convert who shot two Army recruiters, or Levar Haley Washington, Gregory Vernon Patterson, Hammad Riaz Samana, and Kevin James, who in August 2005 planned attacks against National Guard bases, or the Father son combo who terrorized Maryland and Virginia a while back - these guys NEVER get grouped as a "plot" or as members of terrorist groups by the press. In fact, the press runs from making such connections - ALWAYS.
It is all being used to dehumanize conservatives and to justify the detention of political opponents. Obama already messed up and leaked his plan for "preventative detention" centers.

Bravo Libby for pointing this out. I am sure that you will follow up this brilliant piece with the story of Carlos Bledsoe and how he was brainwashed by the right into shooting two and killing one person at a military recruiting center.
The constant rhetoric coming from the left on how we are "murdering" innocent civilians in Iraq obviously had no part in this shooting. The potential release of damning photos of alleged "torture" would have set his mind at ease knowing that Americans are policing their own and its the GOPs fault for preventing that. I am also sure that you will not find any connection to the Jihadist Islam conversion he went through, as Islam is a religion of peace as you are so fond of telling us.
We condemn our killers, and you embrace them. THAT is the difference between Americans and Liberals.

The lunatic who killed Tiller acted alone and sought to kill an individual, NOT indiscriminate mass killing intended for the greater purpose of terrifying the population (thus the word “terrorist”). Well, at least O’Reilly had REAL sources Libby, which is more than we can say for your trash-can posts. You also neglected to mention that O’Reilly repeatedly invited Tiller on the show to defend his views and present both sides of the issue. Does your liberal media do that? By the way, convenience abortions are exactly what Tiller specialized in, why don’t you actually READ your own cited story? This couple, had the cash to fly out to Tiller in Wichita (because that type of abortion was ILLEGAL in their own state)? Being out of state, they were also not likely covered by their insurance company (for an illegal, out-of-state abortion) and had to pay thousands in cash for the procedure… So this couple had some money!!!Care to rethink your assertion about abortions “for rich and well-connected elitists”?

Let me get this straight. The killing of TWO children who would have lived long lives if not seperated is justifiable in your mind somehow?
I present MY example: Abigale and Brittany Hansel (and every other conjoined twins really). Oddly enough, their mother is an RN as well. They BOTH passed their drivers tests in 2006. They have very rich lives, even if they are not Latinas. Google their names. Their appearance is very odd, they look like a two headed pretty teenage girl... and they SMILE too. Don't forget Chang and Eng... They both married and had grandchildren before they died in 1874 after living 63 years.
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU OR THE DOCTOR OR EVEN THE TWIN'S MOTHER TO DECIDE THAT DEATH IS BETTER THAN LIVING JOINED AT THE HIP? YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO MURDER PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT PERFECT! There is no question that the babues in your example were killed for convienience.
