Category: Voter Disconnect

From the Politico, Saturday night dinners belie the true disconnect of Washington from the rest of the nation.
First off, Obama was dining at the Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, where entry-level "sponsorship" starts at $750 a plate, and is primarily sponsored by Lilly Pharmaceuticals. Let's hope that the Congressional Black Caucus uses that money to help out their constituents' needs.
As for McCain, he dined at CityZen with Joe Lieberman and his wife as the negotiations to save our economy ensued on Capitol Hill.
CityZen is the signature restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where their menu actually spells out prices, if ya know what I mean: The Chef's Sampling includes a delectable Sweet Butter Poached Maine Lobster
with Braised Swiss Chard and Toigo Farms Yellow Corn Chowder, and for only seventy-five dollars more, you can be paired with the sommelier's pairing to your prix fare selection starting at sixty dollars a person.
Subway, anyone?
In both cases, money doesn't seem to be a problem, does it?
I can't wait for some partisan hack to try and reason anything out other than look like a fool here.
Point is, the economy isn't a crisis for someone who has to make a choice between Fromage Blanc Souffle Glace with an Almond Biscuit
Navel Orange Salad and Orange-Licorice Emulsion, or
Whipped Valrhona Chocolate and Salted Sable
with a Candied Walnut Tuile and Bailey's Gastrique.
serfdom fidelis. Mako out.
Update: Per a Politico 'error', McCain apparently chose sushi, at Cafe Mozu (of which has excellent tuna tataki).
In that case, I capitulate. Go McCain! Mako out.
