OK, I don't want to turn this blog into like a My Space confessional thing, but I have been flooded with emails from folks wanting to know if I beat up an Orlando radio guy in the press room before Game 4. Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi made reference to it in his column today, which made me laugh. He referred to me as hulking. I guess I never thought of myself as hulking -- overweight, old, grouchy, yeah, but not hulking. Oh well.
In lieu of not responding to all the emails, here's what happened. I blogged on Friday about how this Orlando radio guy had invited me on his show and badgered me with questions about how the Magic had control of the series and that the Pistons obviously feared the Magic after Game 3. I tried to be polite, it was his show. But I shot down his premise pretty vehemently. Well, after I was off the air, this clown ripped on me for a good 15 minutes, I was told. I guess he went on and on about how I talked down to him and how all the Detroit people have this arrogant attitude, or some such garbage.
So, I see him skulking around the press room before the game and I confront him. That's sort of what I do. Not real good at letting things slide off me. I am working on it.
Anyway, I walk up to him and I said, "You always rip on your guests once they are off the air and can't respond?" He said something about how it was his show and for me not to tell him how to run his show. I questioned his courage and some other things and we went back and forth. I was holding my laptop, so it wasn't like I was about to strike him. But I was up in his face, and I suppose I might have cursed a bit. Again, sort of what I do. I remember him saying that I talked down to him, and I said something like, I only talk down to stupid people. I suppose that wasn't very nice.
It was getting pretty heated when Sherrod Blakely from Booth Newspapers stepped between us and guided me away. I am embarrassed how many times Sherrod has had to pull me away -- usually its from a visiting camera guy or an overzealous security guard. God bless you, Sherrod.
The guy's parting line to me was, "Who are you, anyway. Who are you?" I am the guy in Mike Bianchi's column. I am the guy who wouldn't let himself be punked by a know-nothing homer radio clown. I am also the guy who isn't at all proud of his hair-trigger temper, but, what are you going to do? For the record, at no point was I going to hit the dude. Just wanted to hold him accountable for his cowardly actions.

WHAT A PUNK
Correction! You are in error; Disney "Land" is in California. Disney "World" is in Florida.
This should have been reviewed in you early elementary school years?
WHAT A PUNK
Okay, first of all, don't trash talk the city of detroit. I am sick of outsiders, who doesn't know anything about this fine city, disrespecting the city because they are mad and bitter that there pathetic basketball team can't beat us. Don't get mad at the city of Detroit because nobody respect Disney land. It should be called Walt Disney Magics, and not Orlando. Orlando Magic starting lineup: Dwight Howard, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Minnie Mouse, with key reserves Daffy duck, and Alice in Wonderland coming off the bench. Come to detroit and call us punks in our face, I guaranteed you will regret it.

Fair enough, where can we hear the interview?
Orlando Radio
No disrespect to the Pistons or, the City of Detroit. I'm not even a Magic fan just a fan of the show here. One should consider not passing judgment until one has heard the actual conversation, (broadcast) Chris McCosky came off as an arrogant, self absorbed jack ass. By the way I was born and, raised in Boston the Celtics will win the east no worries and, I've lived through my fir share of "nor'easters"

good job chris, way to let em know who we are and where we come from. damn right we dont take garbage from cowards who wait til we leave to talk trash, and yes we have absolutely NO respect for a team full of soft players. youre a glorified retirement commuinity, how bout you chumps come up here in the dead of january and see how big your marbles are in the face of a blizzard. the magic wants to be where we are, yet they cry about how we do it? keep tryin to finesse your way to a title, you see what its gettin you, a 1-7 soon to be 1-8 record against the pistons the last two playoffs. the magic is more than welcome to come up and see how you win once the conference finals start. next time chris, just knock him out, sherrod cant truly stop you you just let him so you dont catch a case. well have a fund set up to bail you out tho, FREE CHRIS MCCOSKY.

You Chris McCosky are not welcome on any Orlando radio program! As your statements and, actions made on and, off the air last week in Orlando remain meaningless, insignificant, preposterous, foolish and, laughable. You are unable to intelligently comment your way out of construction site out house.
You have the sports intellect of a moon rock, the personality of a clam and, remain a strained, harsh in spirit, angry, distasteful, disagreeable and, unpleasant, stiff! This obviously results in your anger as you remain a negative, easily irritated, annoyed, unpleasant buffoon...a professional fool, a clown, a silly senseless person with built in anger, a weak minded circus production, a ridiculous freak of nature...
The sports intellect and, capacity for learning of the gentlemen that courteously invited you on their program last week in Orlando far exceeds that of your own. Your sports knowledge has been likened to that of a concrete masonry unit and, your physical construction to that of an ostrich. You eat raw meat and, defecate vegetables.

Dude, I listened to that interview and in NO WAY was Jerry "badgering" you on how the Magic were in control or that Detriot feared the Magic. He asked you one question, which was " What does Detriot have to do to take back control over the series?" Thats all, and you got all cocky stating you were in control. As of now, you are so its not the point, you were only up one game with your best player out chump. I wish i was around when you puffed up your chest, because I would have flattened right for you! Stay in your crime ridden, dirty, bad weather city punk. What a proffesional you are blogging about how you punk someone out! You and Detriot are a JOKE!
WHAT HAPPENED
I don't have any idea how someone could think that Chris McCosky is talking down to them.
This sounds like a set up.
I'd proceed with caution, Chris. Might be a good idea to check your tires to make sure they haven't been slashed.
Good luck!

Chris rep your city!
Show those soft beach boys in Florida where the real men reside! Thet better stick to college football and leave the toughness to the northern boys.
Your rap name is now CHRIS CROSS because that's what you'll hit that fool with! JUMP JUMP!
Nice work...
McCoskey...You showed some poor judgement there with the language and perhaps the tone of things but nailed it by confronting a coward who talked behind your back (A professional 'colleague' coward).
ASB ever the diplomat, eh?...Love to hear, we got lots of love for ASB at MLive.
Cheers for sticking to it McCoskey...I get nauseated from radio & media personalities that are so disingenuous and cowardly.
