So can someone explain to me how gymnastics is actually scored....??? I understand that some moves are more complex than others but if you don't succeeed why do you still get a score? I just watched some Chinese woman attempt a high difficulty vault and she landed on her knees - to me that means she didn't accomplish anything and should get a zero for that - why should you get a relatively high score just because you attempt a difficult vault if you don't actually pull it off? If that is the case, shouldn't every one try the hardest vault possible even if they land on their face? Seems like that should be the risk you take for trying something more difficult - if you succeed fine, but if you fail you should get nothing for it....
