shareholder value and better dividends
I'd rather see better dividends and better performing stock, than watching CEO's pay themselves millions as the company gets run into the ground. These guy ain't worth the money they are paying themselves. The corporate mission statements for most companies goes something like "Too maximize shareholder value".
not "maximize" CEO pay, and run the share price into the ground, get a (golden parachute)severance package worth millions, then need a government bailout.
jobs americans won't do???
When people talk about Michigan autoworkers and part suppliers losing their jobs. I've heard alot of the political leadership say "those jobs ain't coming back".
before buying the story about cap and trade creating 1.7 million new jobs, you gotta ask yourself is this coming from the same folks that brought us NAFTA, or other lob sided trade deals with countries like Japan and Korea (they put tariffs on our cars, we have programs like Cash for clunkers, that take and give people $4,500 to buy a $9,900 import from them.)
If American workers building cars is no longer profitable in the U.S. And even simple household stuff like light bulbs, can't be made at a profit by American workers here in the U.S. Why would anyone think for a moment that building windmills, solar panels ect... will somehow be able to be manufactured here. What it looks like it could be is 1.7 million new "Green Jobs" for China, Mexico, India, ect...
Limit clunker cash to U.S.-made vehicles
The first round of "cash for clunkers cost $1 billion and lasted a week, you'd guess, the second round of $2 billion will last two weeks.
To stretch the money further, I think it needs to be a little more focused, to have a more of a lasting effect on American autoworkers, and part suppliers. I think it would be better to give the stimulus money to be used toward vehicles, based on the percentage of American made parts used, and where it is assembled.
With another 550,000 new unemployed in July, home values crashing, maybe it is time to start putting the American people first. let Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, come up with their own stimulus plan.
We don't see them taxing their people to give grants, and loans to U.S firms. If anything they put tariffs on our autos.
something like this-
100% U.S parts 100% U.S assembled = $4,500
80% U.S parts 100% U.S assembled = $3,500
50% U.S parts 100% U.S assembled = $2,500
imported cars = 0
Obamacare for illegals?
The logic of this gives me zero confidence in our government.
An illegal immigrant breaks the law, the government treats him to some free health care, this logic would suggest, breaking other laws could soon be rewarded as well, maybe soon carjackers, bank robbers, or drug dealers will be entitled to government subsidized housing or some other neat government program.
The government takes a huge part of my paycheck every week year after year. It makes me sick to see them so quick to waste billions in foreign aid, to every other country on this globe, and give my money to Wall St. ponzier's that have made bad trades and can't manage their businesses right, now healthcare for illegals.
When will they stop treating me as an ATM machine?
And try putting Americans citizens first, for once! Stop rewarding people who are breaking the law.
Obama did the right thing on this issue!
F-150
