Dressing Down Sonic Youth

I enjoy edgy music, but I've never fallen hard for Sonic Youth, either. Seen 'em live a couple of times and that's still the best way to experience them. Their records tend to leave me somewhat ambivalent. I suppose small doses is best -- like when my iPod shuffles one of their songs into the mix. Honestly, too much Sonic Youth gets old quick. More annoyingly, there's a tendancy with hipster rock fans to idolize SY for their innovative, feedback-drenched sound and steadfast indie spirit, but I think the band is better as a concept than an actuality.

- If the comment was submitted in response to a cybersurvey, clicking on the headline will take you to the cybersurvey and its related comments.

- If you click on the headline of a forum post that was simply posted in the forum, you will get all posts with that same headline.

If you want to add a comment to a thread in the forum, use the same headline as the post to which you want to respond.
