Lions 17, Seahawks 0: A first-quarter surprise

A huge fourth-down stop by the Lions' defense set up another short-field scoring drive for the offense. Jim Mora's gamble on fourth-and-inches from the Seattle 38 failed as the line submarined the Seahawks and linebackers Ernie Sims and Larry Foote made the stop on Julius Jones in the backfield.

The Lions only went 25 yards in seven plays, but Jason Hanson made amends for his earlier miss by booting a 41-yarder to make it 17-0 with 43 seconds left.

The last time the Lions had a lead this big in the first quarter was a year ago at home against Tampa Bay. The Bucs ralled from 17-0 down to take a 21-17 halftime lead, though.
