RB Smith to start, but DE White and DT Hill are out

Kevin Smith, limited by a shoulder injury in practice this week, will be in the starting lineup Sunday.

But the Lions won't have defensive tackle Sammie Hill (ankle), defensive end Dewayne White (hamstring) -- both starters -- or safety Kalvin Pearson on Sunday. Landon Cohen will start in Hill's place, while Cliff Avril and Jason Hunter will start at defensive ends.

One other change in the starting lineup on defense: Ko Simpson replaces Marquand Manuel at strong safety.

Other inactives today: guard Daniel Loper, tackle Jon Jansen, receiver Derrick Williams and defensive end Turk McBride.

The Bears are without two starting linebackers, with Nick Roach replacing Hunter Hillenmeyer in the middle and Jamar Williams in for Pisa Tinoisamoa on the strong side.

Among the other inactives for the Bears is tight end Michael Gaines, whose costly fourth-quarter fumble last season at Chicago -- in a Detroit uniform -- helped extend the Lions' losing skid.
