Lions interested in Hackett?

The Lions brought in more than just a few quarterbacks for a workout earlier this week. Receiver D.J. Hackett also visited Allen Park on Tuesday. But Hackett's agent, Kevin Robinson, said Thursday he's not sure if the Lions are ready to pull the trigger on a deal to bring him in prior to training camp. Players report Friday and take the field Saturday afternoon for the first practice.

Hackett, five-year NFL veteran, also has had workouts with Baltimore, Tampa Bay and Washington this offseason. He only caught 13 passes for 181 yards in nine games with Carolina last season.

Asked about Tuesday's workouts, coach Jim Schwartz said, "For the most part, we're looking (for) short-list guys. You know, you get into camp, you have an injury, you need to replace somebody. You need to know where they are, who's ready to go pull the trigger right away. You don't want to be waiting until the last minute to do that."
