Lions sign sixth-rounder Aaron Brown
The Lions agreed to terms with another draft pick, signing running back Aaron Brown to a three-year contract Friday. Brown, a sixth-round selection (192nd overall pick), is the third of 10 draft selections to sign, joining top pick Matthew Stafford and seventh-round choice Dan Gronkowski.
The Lions' training camp begins July 31, and Brown, a 6-foot, 196-pound back who also excels as a kick returner, will have to earn a spot on the roster. He'll likely be competing with veteran Aveion Cason and undrafted rookie free agent Antone Smith for the No. 3 running back job.
Nothing immminent with the rest of the Lions' draft picks, as far as I can tell. But that's not a big surprise, and talking to the agents for both Brandon Pettigrew and Louis Delmas, there's no indication a holdout is looming in either case. Some CBA-related issues are slowing things down with regard to Day 1 draft picks this summer, and right now, I believe the top two QBs -- Stafford and Mark Sanchez -- are the only first-rounders signed. That'll start to change later next week.
