Fight on, Ricky: An anniversary worth remembering
I've had some emails inquiring about Ricky Sandoval's ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer in response to Terry Foster's article in the News last week.
There hasn't been much good news lately, but you wouldn't know it from talking Ricky most days. He's still fighting like he has for the last three years -- it was May 30, 2006 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV inoperable cancer. And I must say, even on the cold, snowy days in December, when I was hardly thrilled to be trudging into the office in Allen Park covering an 0-for-the-season football team, I'd always catch myself. You walk by Ricky's office, where the lights and TV are always on no matter how early you're there, and see Ricky at his desk and you quickly forget about feeling sorry for yourself.
If you're looking for updates on Ricky's fight, or want to send him a message of support, you can go his blog or his Carepage.
And here's a nice piece Channel 7's Tom Layden did back in February:
