Larry Foote, Levi Jones, Jim Schwartz's Headbanger's Ball, and more ...
The Lions had some 11th-hour competition for Larry Foote. Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt called the free-agent linebacker late last night -- early this morning, actually -- in an attempt to convince Foote to sign with the Cardinals. Indianapolis also was in the mix with a contract offer, and Tampa Bay -- along with the Lions -- was talking to the Steelers about Foote during the draft, I'm told. But in the end, he's back home in Detroit with something to prove.
Exchanged text messages a little bit ago with Ken Zuckerman, the agent for LT Levi Jones, who was released by Cincinnati and is now a free agent. (Zuckerman also represents Dominic Raiola and Stephen Peterman, by the way.) The Lions haven't shown an interest in Jones yet, and I'm not sure they will, though clearly they're not afraid to make changes this offseason. FoxSports.com is reporting Jones already is scheduled to visit Seattle, where Walter Jones is coming off microfracture surgery. And ESPN.com reports Denver is a possible destination as well.

More to come ...
