The Detroit News

Schwartz first in line for seconds?

If you're trying to play connect-the-dots and figure out who the next Lions coach will be, this could be another clue. In their parallel search for an additional personnel executive, the Lions reportedly are looking at former Cleveland Browns GM Phil Savage, former Jacksonville Jaguars player personnel VP James "Shack" Harris and possibly former Denver Broncos GM Ted Sundquist.

Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who'll be in Allen Park for a second interview today, worked briefly with Savage in Cleveland and Harris in Baltimore.

Take it for what it's worth. Maybe nothing, maybe something.

Schwartz is the guy or its just the same old Lions

If the new guys want to make a good impression, I would hire this guy in a minute. For the first time in many years they are actually conducting a real search and not hiring the buzz guy with buzz new scheme. He is a real defensive minded coach who puts into action what he preaches. He's young enough that he can reach these players and yet old enough to get respect. He's a coach that if he is given the right players to fit his philosophy, will be successful. Unlike in years past where you get a West Coast coach and draft stretch the field players. If Mayhew and Lewand are serious about change, grab this guy and stop trying to impress everyone by interviewing every candidate known to man. If they can't see this guy is smart, organized, and comes from the right elk, then they are the same type of guys we just got rid of---idiots.
