Retro Pinball Tournament - Dream Cruise of Pinball

Though not directly related to the Dream Cruise, there's a kind of "Dream Cruise" type event in Walled Lake on August 30th. It's a "Classic Pinball Tournament", where the tournament is on restored & classic 1970s pinball games! It's a step back in time 30 years. It's like going to the Dream Cruise, but you're able to drive the cars (or in this case, play the games.) And if your a Vet or recently unemployed, entry and play is FREE.

I think a lot of people that enjoy the Dream Cruise may enjoy this event too. It's a low cost (or no cost) event, a step back in time to a simplier era, where flipper games were "king", and the silver ball ruled.

Check out http://www.crazycarlvideo.com/playpinball for more information if you want to come play. There's really nothing like this anywhere in the country.

Were there bands at the Dream Cruise?

Wow. Alto Reed, from a hometown band, nationally known, no mention of his show other than the start time.

Rare Earth, hometown band also nationally known, same thing.

Crewsade, hometown band known throughout the tri-county area, same thing.

How disgraceful.

These acts played for minimum fees - or no fees at all - sweated it out like everyone else and provided wonderful entertainment to all....but you'd never know it. They were all right there in Ferndale.

I realize and understand that the focus is - and should be - on the cars. But for the Detroit News, as well as other local media and TV, not to provide even a short, simple review of these hard working groups and musicians is poor and unacceptable. Instead we heard over and over again about a giant cupcake.

What a shame. My hat is off to all musicians and other entertainers that never received an iota of acknowledgement or credit. Our local news media really dropped the ball on this one.

Dream Cruise

Of course Detroit WAS ONCE the Motor Capital of THE WORLD, but let's not hang the word DETROITERS onto any aspect of the cruise. The Detroit we know today is a decaying shell of what it was even 30 years ago.

The Cruisers of old ALWAYS cruised north of 8 mile, not because of racial issues or any other bias. Mostly because of the Big Boy, at 10 mile, the Totem Pole, the Suzy Q.,etc... I take offense to you calling me a Detroiter just because I own and show off a classic car.

Don't push your politically correct opinion onto us, as well as insulting us by being so PC. I REALLY used to love Detroit, but, now, I only go through there to get to Ohio and other points south.

flags

so Ron doesn't want the Confederate flags--but he doesn't mind making money off of them--can not question his ethics--can't question what isn't there--would never buy anything from him

Fusion hybrid mileage

45 mpg is a wonderful benchmark! Congrats to Ford for their success...

Now, can you put one in my garage for less than $20K?

Gas mileage

The mileage that your car gets depends much more on the driver than anything else. My 1997 Ford Escort Station Wagon gets 38 miles per gallon with 4 passengers on high speed long trips. It gets slightly short of 30 in city driving. If you drive with one foot on the brake and one foot on the accelerator in an automatic transmission, you mileage will rot no matter what.

Foreign cars in dream cruise

Another black eye for our dream cruise! This is a celebration to the American auto and them foreigners insist on embarassing themselves by taking part under the illusion real Americans will be interested in their tincans. Go to Japan/England and conduct your own cruise. Be American, support American products! Any psuedo-Americans care to answer?

Vintage British Car displays along Woodward?

Can anyone help me find out if there is an area on Saturday where old vintage British cars would be on display along Woodward?

"CREWSADE" added to Dream Cruise lineup

These guys are really good, a lot of fun, and they play great music from the past 4 decades. Just saw them last week at a bar up in Fenton and the folks there absolutely loved them, as did my wife and I. Now I log on to the Ferndale site for the Dream Cruise and discover they're playing this Friday afternoon in front of city hall! YEAH! Perfect timing too, because I'm heading back to Arizona next week. Looks like they start at 3:00 and play until the ribbon cutting ceremony. I highly recommend stopping by and checking them out! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

I come up here every year for the Cruise and have seen the bands and entertainment get better and better every time. Kudos to the folks behind the scenes who are constantly improving things. I can't wait for this weekend!
