Several years ago, we took an impulsive family road-trip to New York City when I found an irresistible weekend deal at a Westin hotel just off Times Square.
We had an amazing time visiting the Statue of Liberty, watching the Easter Parade along 5th Avenue, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and introducing the kids to the magic world of Broadway plays. But one of the things I remember most about that exhilirating yet exhausting Good Friday weekend in Manhattan was, surprisingly, my hotel bed.
Actually, it was Westin's iconic Heavenly Bed, one of the few products in life that actually lives up to its name. Sinking into that sumptuous 10-layer bed, with its ultra-comfy pillow-top mattress, plush pillows, fluffy duvet and crisp, sweet-smelling sheets, was so relaxing that I remember telling my husband I wanted a Heavenly Bed for my birthday (not that I ever got one).
Now, it turns out, the Heavenly Bed, along with the rest of Westin's retail line, will be 25 percent off during an unprecedented sale, starting Monday and running through Sept. 7.
The two-week sale is part of Westin's 10th anniversary celebration of the trend-setting bed, which launched a whole new era of sleep comfort in the hotel industry. The pre-discount retail price, if you bought the complete Heavenly Bed hotel ensemble, ranges from $2,670 - $3,200, plus $325 shipping.
Customers who visit www.westin.com/store, here also will receive 25 percent off other items in the Westin at Home retail line, which also includes White Tea candles and oil diffusers; Brazilian combed cotton towels and bath sheets; and a variety of bathroom fixtures.
Several new items, such as a Heavenly Spa Robe, Heavenly Travel Blanket, and a Heavenly Bath line created in partnership with Bliss Spa, also are eligible for the discount.
Hmm, I think I feel another birthday coming on....

Heavenly bed
Just wanted to let your readers know that although the Westins Heavenly bed is a nice bed, one can find significantly better linens at similar prices.
In the Detroit area the are a number of luxury linen boutiques â€" such as my store Cristions (205 N. Old Woodward, Birmingham) as well as the Touch of Lace, Scandia Down (Somerset Mall) and Kramer's (Grosse Pointe). At any of the locations one can find a variety of wonderful Italian Linens (Italy manufactures the best linens in the world) vs. the Westin linens â€" most of which are made in Asia. Not only will you find 100 times the selection of superior linens at these locations - you will also help support the local community. Each of the stores will also be able to provide personal, answer questions with your purchase.
