Michigan Design Center hosts Catwalk Benefit
The Michigan Design Center in Troy is hosting a special benefit, Catwalk: Couture for a Cause, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 11, with proceeds going to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Partners.
The runway fashion show and auction will feature one-of-a-kind couture garments created with fabrics from MDC showrooms and designed by some of the area's most respected interior designers. Haute couture meet home decor as local interioir designers switch hats for a day, all in the name of charity.
More than 20 women's and children's outfits, featuring the finest fabrics in the industry will be auctioned off. Guests will also enjoy a pre-runway silent auction during a welcome reception and cocktail party.
Marvin and Betty Danto, owners of MDC, are honoary co-chairs. Rhonda Walker of WDIV-TV is event emcee. Robert DuMouchelle of DuMouchelle Art Galleries is the auctioneer.
Featured designers include Vita Buffa, Kristen Catto-Armstrong, Rosemary Cotter, LUcy Earl, Amanda Fuller, Michelle Mio and Phyllis Whitehead. Featured showrooms include B. Berger, Brunschwig & Fils, Marie-Howard, Robert Allen, Beacon Hill, Roxmallin, Stark Carpet and Thybony.
Tickets are $75 for enthusiast level and $150 for fashionista level with priority seating during the fashion show and auction and a special gift. Space is limited so call (248) 649-4772 for a reservation. Oh, and be sure to wear festival cocktail attire.
