Weathergirl Debbie
Hi Henry,
Great blog... and as a former resident of the Detroit Area, I really have to hand it to you guys for the patience you have with ninnies like Mz Debbie.
Eh, shoot, this is embarrassing. I eh, have a "friend" I am debating on another blog, who doubts that you have quoted Mz Debbie correctly. You can read some of his / her (?) comments on this page:
http://www.standfirminfaith.com/?/sf/page/24511
Apparently, my "friend" has issued a challenge for you to print the -entire- text of the interview with Mz Debbie, as he or she believes that you may have misquoted her. I myself have heard the audio transcript, and am satisfied that you are not misquoting, but what's say once and for all put the matter to rest?
Here are some of his (or her) statements over on the other blog site:
" "Henry Payne is the editorial cartoonist for The Detroit News. That ought to be factored into his comments. Anyone who believes that whats printed in the Detroit Nooz is gospel also believes the Republican Party is a strong supporter of the working class and unions.
Experience has shown over the years that's it's always best to take commentary from the Nooz with a grain of salt.
Editorially speaking they're known for placing their own interpertation on remarks made by others, especially if "others" have political leanings differing from theirs. I should add that philosphy applies to labor unions also.
BTW, I'm still searching for the complete ver-batim transcript of the conversation. If you listen to what is described above as the "entire" article you'll find its nothing more than just a clip of the conversation that Jackie posted above. The Nooz will lift portions of remarks made by anyone if by doing so they can sensationalize the issue and sell papers. Editorial ethics is not their strong suite.
I did listen to the audio snippet you refer to and that's just what it was, a snippet. When, and if, someone can provide the verbatim transcript of the entire interview that took place, not just the snippet, I'll be happy to read it.
In an interview I say "I cut the tires on your car is not a true statement". In a later interview you quote me as saying "I cut the tires on your car". The words are true BUT is the statement? "
Thank you (very much) for your trouble.
- Moot
