When I saw the term "wallpaper," I took it literally! I attended and graduated from Clarkston Sr. High in the early 80's, and remember the mural of Bob Seger painted on the lockers in the front hall! Now *that* would be a photo I'd love to see, for old times sake.

Diana, that photo of a clean-cut Seger made me long for calmer times. In 1969, at age 12, I saw Ted Nugent play in the gymnasium of a Dearborn Hgts high school(Crestwood). He made a point of being noticed--he was so loud I think my hearing was damaged, and he jumped around onstage in an Indian headdress and loincloth. Who knew fame was just around the corner for the Motor City Madman? What a contrast to the photo of Bob Seger taken about the same time. Seger was a gentleman then and now, and Nugent is still a maniac.

Diana- I never miss your blog, nice work! I have no idea if the Borat story is real or not. But a few summers ago I was in Pittsburgh for a Pirates game and the local radio station that advertised all over the stadium had call letters that started with a K. Like you, I assumed the Mississippi was the dividing line, but apparently that's not set in stone. -BMX Fan Brian

Believe it or not Diana, many prominent rap acts have began this way. One of the most successful was Master P, who before his decline created a $300 million dollar empire. He started selling his tape and cd's out of the trunk of cars. Before he knew it he was selling thousands of dollars worth of music and generating tremendous street buzz. At the same time he was making more money than rap acts that were signed to major labels. The major label rap act would sell 200,000 units and only make $1 - $2 for themselves while the label kept the other $12 from the selling price of a $14 cd. Master P would sell his music for $10.00 a unit and sell 25,000 units and got to keep all $250,000 to himself. Many rap artist generate buzz and maintain street creed through the mix tape circuit. This is music that is sold the way you described in you blog and not through normal distribution channels.

k-fed gave a loser performance - which is totally what I had expected. What a poor choice of lyrics too. He doesn't even make any money - so how can he say he's making BIG money. What a stupid thing to do. This will no doubt give more bad press to this pathetic couple. And will one of Brits rep's please give her some assistance on how to 'not' dress like a total hose-bag. Your article was well written and 'right on the money'. thank you!

Hi. This is a very cool... and very real... fashion design competition, not a sewing contest. It's called "Make It Work". Haberman Fabrics planned it to be like the Bravo TV show, Project Runway. It's a benefit for the Karmanos Cancer Institute and it also supports local fashion designers and the emerging fashion industry in metro Detroit. They received 65 entries and chose 10 finalists based on photographs, original garment reviews and interviews. The final runway competition is Tuesday, August 1. Tickets are SOLD OUT! All 250! I have my ticket and can't wait to see who wins. I want to meet Kara Janx from Runway and Jon Jordan from channel 4 too. I'm going to try bidding on at least one of the auction items, maybe the trip to Runway's finale in New York. If you don't have tickets to Make It Work, you'll see the results on the store's website and in the newspapers and maybe on TV too. Haberman's has all the details about the designers and the celebrity judges, the prizes and the auction on their website. It's www.habermanfabrics.com.

Having been a step parent for the last 6 years, I find it increasingly more difficult with each day. I have 2 adult children of my own and my step children are now 19 and 17. They were 11 and 10 when I met there father. They live with us, and we have had to install a "revolving door" so to speak. Each and everytime there is the slightest incling to try and set some rules and some boundries they go running back to he other parent (mom). When she does the same they run back here. Unfortunatly it has been allowed by both side, much to my dissmay and complete dissatisfaction. Unfortunatly the lines of communication between the adults in this situation have been completely muted. The kids have pitted one parent against the other and they are accustomed to being the great manipulators. I see more then my husband because I am home with the kids more then he, I am with these teenagers more then the bio mom. the bio mom is the strong one the bio dad is an easy pushover and these 2 know it. There is no discipline and there are no rules in the household. These kids run the house and are very dissrepectful of me, and my husband alows it. It has affected our relationship and the kids enjoy that. I do not know what else to do. Any Doctor Phils out there that can offer any suggestions!!!!
