Detroit Urban Craft Fair promises to be bigger, better

The 2008 Detroit Urban Craft Fair will take place at the Fillmore Detroit, formerly the State Theater, Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

"Once again Handmade Detroit, the crafty (literally) organization behind DUCF, has selected more than 60 unique D.I.Y. vendors for this year's event. ... What's even more exciting this year is our Detroit-based food lab serving food all day, a fashion show from local designers given a bag of clothes to make one dress and our commitment to provide one-of-a-kind gifts during a holiday season plagued with a less-than-friendly economy.

"To keep your stomach full during the fair, the Detroit Evolution Labs will be serving vegan meals and snacks inside the Fillmore.

"Once guests take a break from shopping, there's 'A Bag, A Dress,' a fashion experience from clothing guru and Detroit blogger Adrienne Goloda. Entrants were given a grocery bag filled with thrift store clothes and one rule: Make a dress by Nov. 15. Dresses will be on display during the DUCF with the winner being announced at the end of the show."

Fillmore Detroit is located at 2115 Woodward Ave. in downtown Detroit. For more details, visit our complete events listings.
