Win a copy of "Chic & Simple Sewing" book

If you're just learning to sew, or you've decided to revisit what was once a favorite past-time, then "Chic & Simple Sewing," (Potter Craft/$27.50) by Christine Haynes has all the inspiration to keep you motivated and dressed to impress, even on a budget.

Beginners will no doubt appreciate all the basic sewing information provided at the beginning of the book with tips on everything from types of scissors and needles to using a sleeve board and how to measure your body.

An added bonus is the book's full-sized patterns for more than 20 projects attached to the inside cover. Featured projects include a strapless dress, a wrap top, a baby doll dress, a tie-shoulder shift dress, a circle skirt and a trench coat.

("Christine Haynes is a regular Renegade Craft Fair and Felt Club participant, and her designs can be found in boutiques from Los Angeles to London. Her work has been featued on The Today Show as well as in The New York Times, The New York Post, and The Los Angeles Times. Visit her online at www.christinehaynes.com.")

If you'd like a chance at winning a copy of the book, just email me at jbrown@detnews.com and tell me an interesting STORY about your sewing experience. Please put the word "sewing" in the subject line, and REMEMBER to include your name AND ADDRESS.

Good Luck and Happy Sewing!!!

Chic and Simple Sewing

I bought Chic and Simple Sewing a few days ago, and I've been busy so I've only been able to cut my pattern so far (the tie top strapless dress) because I've been busy - but nearly every project in there is earmarked as one I want to try.

I've read that some of the instructions are difficult to understand, but so far I haven't seen anything that's overly vague. Go for it guys - this book is nice!

(And if you don't win, this book is like getting 20-some patterns for the price of two. Go get it anyway.)
